Is Bush Asleep At The Wheel

I ask myself this question: is Bush awake?  When I placed my vote for Bush, it appeared that I was voting for a leader that was steadfast in his beliefs.  He was a competent leader, more so than those in opposition from the democratic party.

What makes a good leader?  First, and foremost, he can't loose steam.  He must stay awake.  It is as if Bush has scales over his eyes preventing him from seeing what is happening.  The Harriet Meyers fiasco was not the first 'sluggish' leadership endeavor, but hopefully this steadfast loyalty to Gonzalez will be his last.

It is as if Bush needs to be shaken before he develops a strategy.  Whether that strategy is for defining the course of action for Iraq and explaining it to the country, or selecting subordinate leadership for the Cabinet or office of the Attorney General.   Rather than develop a strategy of communication of his plans or his strategy for Iraq and other viable policies (Social Security), Bush remains behind the eight ball.  Rather than being on the edge of the wave he is consistently putting out fires.

You cannot be a successful leader if you are always reacting to events.  A great leader will be proactive, develop a strategy and communicate that strategy effectively.  Bush needs to wake up from behind the wheel of guiding this country and take a position of leadership and be proactive.  He doesn't have much time, and this country needs him to wake up!
